The LA Beards is a Los Angeles chess community celebrating a decade of social events.

The LA Beards is a vibrant Los Angeles-based chess community celebrating a decade of lively events, hundreds of matches, and thousands of friends. The group organizes monthly social chess gatherings across various venues in Los Angeles and South Pasadena, featuring casual and competitive play, live music performances, art installations, and educational activities. These events are open to all ages and skill levels, requiring no membership or brackets, and often include partnerships with other social chess clubs such as the DTLA Chess Club, The Highland Park Chess Club, and The Chess Maidens. A significant portion of the proceeds from these events is donated to charities like Project Sunshine and the LA Food Bank. The group aims to foster camaraderie and make chess accessible and enjoyable for everyone in the city, hosting unique experiences ranging from puzzle tables and chess theory lectures to themed competitions and rooftop lounges in Downtown Los Angeles.
