The Rookie Chess League hosts monthly social chess events in Los Angeles.

The Rookie Chess League is a vibrant community group dedicated to fostering social chess events across Los Angeles, celebrating a decade of lively gatherings, hundreds of events, and thousands of friends. The group collaborates with eighteen other social chess clubs to create unique experiences featuring casual and competitive play, live music, art installations, and educational opportunities for all skill levels and ages. Their events are held in diverse venues ranging from historic lodges and rooftop lounges to cocktail bars, often supporting charitable causes like the LA Food Bank and Project Sunshine. Participants can enjoy chess challenges, theory lectures, puzzle tables, and themed competitions alongside food, beverages, and performances by local artists. The league emphasizes an inclusive, pressure-free atmosphere where anyone can join for a game, a conversation, or simply to enjoy the camaraderie of a shared love for chess in the heart of Los Angeles.
