St. Francis of Assisi Schola Cantorum

A traditional church choir in New Orleans enhancing liturgical worship through music.

The St. Francis of Assisi Schola Cantorum is a traditional choir in New Orleans that serves as a ministry of music within the historic church. Composed of people from all walks of life, the choir is dedicated to glorifying God, supporting the common liturgical experience, and ministering so that Christ may be glorified. Members gather with commitment to sing traditional choral music, grow in faith and love toward God and one another, and open the minds of fellow parishioners to deeper musical expressions. The choir is in residence for the 11:30 a.m. Choral Eucharist every Sunday from September through the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, and also presents special liturgical services including a Festival Lessons and Carols during Advent and a Tenebrae Service during Lent. Rehearsals take place on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 in the church. In addition to their musical services, members enjoy social gatherings and fellowship activities throughout the year. Those interested in learning more can contact Dr. Thomas Wright, Director of Liturgical Music and Organist.
