Virginia Beach Medical Reserve Corps
Medical and public health volunteers supporting health initiatives in Virginia Beach.
Comprised of medical and public health professionals serving alongside interested non-medical community members, the Virginia Beach Medical Reserve Corps shares skills, expertise, and time to support public health initiatives and respond to health emergencies throughout Virginia Beach. Organized locally through the Virginia Beach Department of Public Health, the unit includes general support and healthcare professional volunteers who contribute their time to vaccine clinics, back-to-school health events, refugee support, first aid at local marathons, and disaster response. The corps has built long-running partnerships with churches, public schools, cultural centers, universities, and marginalized communities. Volunteers have participated in targeted programs like the homebound vaccination program, and the unit received the National Community Preparedness and Resilience Recognition Award from the Medical Reserve Corps Network in 2022. Through their dedication, professionalism, and efficiency, volunteers continue to offer health service events that benefit thousands of Virginia Beach citizens each year.
