Migrant Workers' Action (MWA)
Migrant Workers’ Action (MWA) is a grassroots initiative in Beirut dedicated to supporting migrant domestic workers in Lebanon, a group often overlooked amid the country’s overlapping crises. Working alongside the Reclaim Our Rights (ROR) collective—a network of migrant women activists from countries like Kenya, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, and the Philippines—MWA focuses on defending the rights and dignity of these workers while addressing their immediate humanitarian needs. The organization’s efforts are rooted in community-led mutual aid, providing essential assistance in a context marked by displacement, economic collapse, and systemic discrimination. MWA’s work highlights the resilience of migrant communities and their role in shaping Lebanon’s cultural and social fabric, even as they face increasing hardship. By centering the voices and experiences of migrant workers, the group challenges the structural barriers that perpetuate their marginalization. Its collaboration with local and international partners underscores the power of solidarity in responding to urgent crises, offering a model for collective action in Lebanon’s most vulnerable communities.
