The 50 plus community is a senior group in Cairo and Alexandria focused on networking, friendship, and activities.
The 50 plus community is a social network for elderly people in Cairo and Alexandria, founded by Huda Mustafa to combat loneliness and provide a space for seniors to network and support one another. Launched as a Facebook group, it aims to help members fill their free time after retirement without burdening their children, fostering a sense of active participation in the community. The group has grown to over 1,200 members, including some younger individuals joining on behalf of their parents or seeking friendship. Activities include weekly beach walks, swimming, water aerobics, and educational seminars, such as those on diabetes awareness. Members also organize social interventions like visiting elderly homes, celebrating birthdays together, and planning a book club. The community features an anonymous advice section where members share problems and offer guidance based on personal experience, and a suggestion box for new events. Beyond physical activities, the group focuses on psychological well-being, helping members feel less bored and more connected through shared experiences and mutual support.
