Newstory Church is a fully affirming, multi-cultural faith community in Chicago.

Newstory Church is a fully affirming, multi-cultural faith community located on the Northside of Chicago. The congregation is led by Co-Pastors Matt Temple and Tasha Mitchell, who bring diverse backgrounds and a shared commitment to Gospel liberation and community building. Matt, who previously served as an urban missionary and church planter in Chicago, focuses on developing systems and fostering trust through authenticity and hospitality. Tasha, a Chicago Sky season ticket holder and public theologian, integrates Black, Womanist, Queer, Liberation, Progressive, Orthodox, and Charismatic theological frameworks into her ministry. Together, they aim to create an inclusive, ethical, and equitable environment that is relevant and sustainable for all members. The church emphasizes post-colonial methodology in church planting and seeks to foster meaningful connections among those who have lost trust in institutional religion. Beyond formal worship, the community values hospitality, with Co-Pastors often hosting gatherings featuring mixology and music. Located in the Edgewater neighborhood, Newstory Chicago strives to drive toward Gospel liberation while building a sense of culture and collaboration within the congregation.
