Salvation Army Red Shield Center Chicago faith community coordinating seasonal prayer and local action.

The Salvation Army Red Shield Center in Chicago fosters collaboration among churches and faith-based organizations through coordinated seasonal rhythms of united prayer and collective action. Guided by the biblical message of shalom, the group emphasizes that while prayer is essential, it must be complemented by God-inspired action to achieve holistic change. Formed in 2017 as a collaboration of various praying networks, including Pray Chicago, Chicagoland United in Prayer champions these rhythms throughout the year. The organization supports place-based individuals and organizations through training and connection, aiming to nurture the thriving of their communities. Key activities include the annual city-wide united prayer event held over Memorial Day Weekend, where churches, organizations, and individuals rally to host prayer and positive community presence across Chicago. Additionally, the group invests in the next generation through initiatives like 'Pray for and at your local school,' seeking Prayer Champions to lead weekly prayer sessions on school corners. The Faith & Service Initiative specifically aims to nurture and deepen the Christian faith of young people aged 13–29 through relational discipleship and meaningful acts of service. Monthly prayer and updates meetings are held at various locations, including Park Community Church and Progressive Baptist Church, to keep the community synchronized in their efforts for the fame of Jesus' name.
