The O'ahu Choral Society

The O'ahu Choral Society brings classical choral music to Honolulu.

The O'ahu Choral Society has a 25-year history of bringing music of artistic excellence to the people of Hawaii, offering robust programming for all music with a repertoire spanning the decades. Created in 1995 and functioning under the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra until 2009, the organization is committed to presenting choral and orchestral masterworks from Beethoven to Bernstein, major chamber ensemble works, and new commissions featuring contemporary and local composers such as Michael Foumai and Herb Mahelona. The group includes approximately 75 singers from all walks of life, ranging from young adults to seniors, who are united by their talent and love for classical music and choral singing. Today, the society performs major choral works alongside the Hawai'i Symphony Orchestra, as well as smaller pieces with chamber ensembles, accompanists, and a cappella. Featuring local and international artists as soloists, the O'ahu Choral Society frequently collaborates with other arts organizations in the community to continuously deliver choral music to the region.
