The Cathedral Choristers – a choir group in Lexington.
The Cathedral Choristers are part of Christ Church Cathedral’s long‑standing tradition of training singers in the English Cathedral style, following the Royal School of Church Music curriculum. Children and youth from age 8 to 18 join one of several ensembles: the Cathedral Boys Choir, the Cathedral Girls Choir, the Cathedral Imps for ages 4 to 8, the Cathedral Women’s Choir for adults, the ATB Choir for advanced singers, and the volunteer Cathedral Singers. Rehearsals for the Boys and Girls Choirs take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:00 pm, while the Imps meet Saturdays in the morning from September to May. The Women’s Choir rehearses twice a month on Thursdays evening and sings at the 8:30 am liturgy, and the ATB Choir auditions each fall, encouraging students from local universities. The Cathedral Singers alternate with the Women’s Choir to provide music for the 8:30 am service during the academic year and perform special services such as the Christmas Eve Pageant and Easter Vigil. Each Sunday the choirs participate in the 11:00 am Eucharist and Evensong, enriching worship and fostering community among singers of all ages.
