Culver City EverWalk Walking Club
Culver City EverWalk Walking Club meets monthly in Culver City, Los Angeles.
The Culver City EverWalk Walking Club was founded in 2018 by local resident Laura Petersen, who was inspired by the 135-mile EverWalk event organized by long-distance swimmer Diana Nyad. Petersen completed the initial trek and subsequently organized community walks, stepping up when Nyad requested volunteers to lead events in their neighborhoods. Since resuming activities in 2021, the club has met approximately once a month, typically on the first Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m., starting at Coombs Park in Culver City. The group follows various routes of about three miles and aims to cater to all types of walkers, regardless of speed. Co-leader Petersen and her husband, Peter, who also joins the monthly walks to ensure inclusivity, manage the pacing so that faster and slower participants can stay together. Membership is free, and the walks serve a dual purpose: providing exercise and creating opportunities for members to make new friends while moving side by side. The club has remained active except for a period during the COVID-19 pandemic.
