Korean American Museum

The Korean American Museum in Los Angeles explores the Korean American experience.

The Korean American Museum, located in Los Angeles, is dedicated to exploring the Korean American experience and fostering creative approaches to advancing Korean American culture. Situated within the heart of Koreatown, the museum's exhibits examine different aspects of Korean American life throughout the United States. The museum shares a central building with the Korean Organizations Association, a non-profit group formed by five community-based organizations that operates a cultural and community center for the Koreatown community. This shared space includes the Koreatown Youth and Community Center. The museum contributes to a vibrant neighborhood that dates back to 1904 and currently holds the highest concentration of Koreans in the United States. The area is home to landmarks such as the Da Wool Jung Pavilion Garden, dedicated in 2006, which symbolizes the cultural, economic, and political growth of the community. For over 35 years, the Los Angeles Korean Festival has celebrated the diverse ethnic communities in the area, drawing more than 350,000 residents annually to honor traditions like Korean Thanksgiving and the Harvest Moon. Designated a Preserve America Community in July 2009, the neighborhood continues to serve as a gateway to understanding the rich history and ongoing development of the Korean American community.
