A diocesan faith formation programme for the laity in Mysore.

The Biblical and Liturgical Orientation Programme is a structured spiritual formation initiative established by the Diocese of Mysore to foster mature Christian discipleship and interior renewal among the laity. Conducted monthly on the third Sunday at the Catholic Centre Mysuru, the programme draws participants from parishes throughout the diocese under the pastoral leadership of Bishop Dr. Francis Serrao, SJ. Guided by theological input from Fr. Joseph Marie J. and Fr. Vijayaraj Jaunet, alongside coordination by Fr. Maria Xavier and Fr. Arul Selva Kumar, the initiative seeks to deepen the faithful's understanding of Sacred Scripture and the Eucharist. The biblical component provides systematic grounding in salvation history, divine inspiration, and prayerful engagement with the Word of God for daily life and ministry. Meanwhile, the liturgical formation explores the theology of the Sacred Liturgy, liturgical norms, and the active role of the laity in worship to encourage conscious and fruitful participation in parish celebrations. Designed to nurture grounded lay leaders, promote evangelisation, and strengthen faith at personal, family, and parish levels, the programme is currently bearing fruit through renewed family prayer practices and increased lay responsibility within ecclesial life.
