A substance-free, safe space for ecstatic dance and movement in St. Louis.

Saint Louis (Overland) Ecstatic Dance and Movement is committed to continuing the tradition of ecstatic dance as a substance-free, safe space for all to experience the joy of dance and movement that adds aliveness to both your body and the community. The group also offers other dance experiences from different traditions and various group workshops or series as requested by the community. Beginners are welcome and encouraged to self-educate online about what to expect. To preserve an open, authentic, and safe space for everyone, the community follows three simple guidelines: dancing barefoot to connect more fully with the ground, dancing without words to maintain a meditative state without verbal instruction or talking, and dancing sober as you are without drugs, alcohol, phones, cameras, or scents. The organization is currently looking for new locations that are free or community funded to host dances. Anyone who violates the guidelines is coached on the first occasion and uninvited on the second. Prospective participants are welcome to reach out to the organizers with questions about the dance, venue, or a first visit.
