Cornell Garden Oasis

Cornell Garden Oasis in Chicago offers vegetable plots and a native woodland garden.

Cornell Garden Oasis has been a cherished part of the Kenwood/Hyde Park community for over 40 years, uniquely combining vegetable garden plots with a large woodland featuring native wildflowers and ferns. A stroll through the woods leads to a glade containing 42 garden plots where members can grow organic vegetables. The site is designed to attract bountiful birds and butterflies, creating a natural haven. Situated in one of Chicago's most diverse communities, the Oasis embodies a philosophy of inclusivity, serving as a refuge from hate, prejudice, and exclusion while welcoming all humanity. The group is delighted to welcome gardeners throughout the year, though prospective members should note that, like most community gardens, there is currently a waitlist for actual plots. For further information or to inquire about joining, interested parties can visit cornelloasis.com or contact the group at [email protected].
