Neighbors' Garden Park Community Garden in Chicago offers urban gardening space since 1994.

Neighbors' Garden Park Community Garden is a unique urban oasis located in the heart of Chicago, where the entire park serves as a shared community garden. Established in 1994 with support from the LSRA Block Club, the Chicago Botanic Garden, and the Chicago Park District, this space was created to allow residents to learn from nature and share quiet moments amidst a bustling city. The park features beautiful ornamental landscapes maintained by dedicated volunteers, alongside a small terrace designed for growing edible crops. These plots function as a practice laboratory, combining food production with educational opportunities for gardeners of all skill levels. To ensure the long-term sustainability of the garden, Neighbors' Garden Park utilizes a 'plot for spot' incentive model. Interested volunteers must commit to contributing a minimum of seven hours per month for three consecutive months before they are eligible to be placed on the waiting list for a plot. This cooperative approach ensures that the community garden remains well-maintained by those who are actively invested in its success.
