Institute for Human Services
A Honolulu nonprofit offering food, shelter, and supportive services to end homelessness.
The Institute for Human Services began in 1978 as a peanut butter ministry offering sandwiches and coffee to unsheltered individuals. Today, the nonprofit operates as a multi-service center with a focused intent on ending the cycle of homelessness. The organization provides food, shelter, and a variety of supportive services, including healthcare, specialized case management, children and family programs, and employment assistance. Volunteers with the organization can help in a wide variety of ways, such as providing administrative support, kitchen help, employment assistance, and after-school tutoring. Additionally, medical professionals and lawyers can contribute through specialized healthcare or legal services to support the community.
