Goonj is a Mumbai-based volunteer group addressing urban clothing needs and promoting sustainability.

Goonj is a community group based in Mumbai dedicated to addressing urban clothing needs while promoting sustainability and dignity. As part of a curated list of top NGOs in Mumbai focusing on education, environment, and social welfare, Goonj works alongside organizations like Marpu Foundation, Pratham, and Akanksha Foundation to transform lives. The group contributes to the broader mission of improving access to resources for underprivileged children, protecting the environment through conservation and sustainability initiatives, and fostering inclusive growth within the city. While many partners in Mumbai focus on tree-planting drives, mural painting projects in schools, and maternal health interventions, Goonj specifically targets the critical issue of clothing in urban areas. The group aligns with sustainable development goals and supports vulnerable populations by ensuring access to essential items, thereby helping to restore dignity and reduce inequality in Mumbai's neighborhoods. Through collaborative efforts with other local entities, Goonj plays an indispensable role in tackling the challenges of urban poverty and environmental degradation, working tirelessly to create a greener, more equitable city.
