The LOEL Senior Center is dedicated to offering free and low cost programs and services that help seniors remain independent, healthy, active, and fulfilled in their daily lives. These programs and services work to combat feelings of helplessness and loneliness that the elderly are susceptible to facing. The center owns 14 units of safe and affordable housing for seniors located right across the street. A lunch program serves lunch Mondays through Fridays every week, providing a nutritious meal and a place for seniors to socialize. LOEL implements many activities and classes that are open to seniors, including BINGO, chess, crafts, Mah-Jongg, driving classes, movie days, and technology training. Seniors are further supported through income tax assistance, information referrals, legal assistance, and health services that feature blood pressure checks, line dancing, Tai-Chi, and Yoga. The LOEL Senior Center works to ensure that seniors are cared for not only as members of the community, but as if they were family members.
