El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank
El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank provides emergency food to thousands of families in El Paso.
The El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank is providing critical emergency food assistance to between 2,700 and 30,000 families weekly across El Paso County. In response to the pandemic, the organization has scaled up from producing 25 emergency food boxes daily to 5,500. The bank is currently facing a severe shortage of volunteers and funding to meet this unprecedented demand. Volunteers are urgently needed to pack food boxes at the warehouse and to distribute these boxes through five drive-through locations to minimize virus transmission risks. These distribution points include Katie's Pantry in the Northeast, the Kelly Center for Hunger Relief in the Central area, Camino de Vida in the Lower Valley, the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank facility in Socorro/Clint/San Elizario, and the Abundant Living Faith Center West. Food distribution is scheduled Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the Socorro/Clint/San Elizario location operating only from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Volunteers can sign up online for four-hour shifts on any day of the week. Additionally, donations are accepted online, where every dollar donated provides seven meals for people in need.
