The Opportunity Center for the Homeless Volunteer Program
The Opportunity Center for the Homeless Volunteer Program in El Paso welcomes volunteers to serve shelters and organize drives.
The Opportunity Center for the Homeless Volunteer Program in El Paso relies entirely on the dedication of over 2,000 volunteers annually who contribute more than 8,000 hours to support our mission. As a vital community resource, we cannot positively change lives without the help of those willing to gift their time and talents. Volunteers are accepted in diverse on-site roles including our kitchens, administrative offices, clothes closet, and outdoor areas, as well as off-site opportunities organizing donation drives to gather essential items for individuals experiencing homelessness or preparing to leave it behind. All volunteers are welcome, though children 16 and under must be accompanied by a parent or adult chaperone. To participate, volunteers must be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, and communicate verbally, and must be capable of lifting 30 pounds unassisted. The dress code is casual and comfortable with closed-toe shoes required. We schedule shifts in two to four-hour time slots available year-round, and notably, no background check is needed to join. For more information or to volunteer, please contact Aracely Martin at (915) 577-0069 extension 239 or email [email protected].
