Pratham is one of India's largest education-focused NGOs, founded in Mumbai in 1995. It works tirelessly to ensure every child is in school and learning well through innovative teaching methods, digital tools, and community mobilization. Their programs reach millions, focusing on foundational literacy and numeracy in underserved areas. Pratham operates as a key player in the landscape of Mumbai's top NGOs alongside organizations like Marpu Foundation, Akanksha Foundation, Teach For India, United Way Mumbai, SNEHA, Light of Life Trust, Magic Bus India Foundation, Apnalaya, CRY, Goonj, Bombay Natural History Society, and WWF-India. Together, these organizations address Mumbai's pressing challenges, ranging from educational disparities and urban poverty to environmental threats and public health issues. While Pratham specializes in education, the broader network of Mumbai's NGOs collectively works to transform lives by empowering communities, promoting health, fostering inclusive growth, and supporting sustainable development goals through initiatives such as tree-planting drives, school transformations, disaster relief, and wildlife conservation. These entities serve as beacons of hope and change in the city, striving to create a greener, more educated, and equitable future for all residents.
